From provocative panels to unforgettable performances, this year's gathering offered a powerful reminder of the enduring relevance of drama and performance in confronting the urgencies of our time. We are delighted to announce that the 2026 Comparative Drama Conference will be hosted by the University of Wisconsin–Madison, from July 9–11, 2026. We look forward to welcoming colleagues to this dynamic campus in the heart of the American Midwest for another year of rich, international dialogue in drama, theatre and performance studies.

Submission of 2025 Conference papers to the special issue of Comparative Drama:

The Comparative Drama Conference is proud to partner with the journal Comparative Drama in publishing the best work presented at each year's conference. As a reminder, participants in the 2025 conference are invited to submit their papers for consideration in the journal's annual special issue.


Please send your submissions and any questions to Victoria Scrimer (h) by September 22, 2025.


Submissions should be expanded beyond presentation-length papers into full-length scholarly essays (typically ~7,000-10,000 words) and formatted according to the Comparative Drama style guidelines, which you can view here. Please send your essays as Word documents and include a ~250 abstract along with your essay submission.


Graduate student submissions are automatically eligible to be considered for the Anthony Ellis Prize and Joel Tansey Memorial Award, so please indicate if you are a graduate student when making your submission.


We encourage all conference participants to consider contributing to this important volume. We look forward to reading your work!
